History and Arts Public Lectures

We are proud to present another season of History and Arts Lectures. These lectures are open to all, and free.

They will take place in the Old Library at seven o'clock on the dates given below, though tea, coffee and biscuits will be served from half past six. You can reserve a seat by telephoning reception (01823 349200).

Last year the lectures were generally about historical and philosophical subjects. This year there is more of an emphasis on literature, with a varied range of subjects embracing Russia and England, poetry, prose and drama. Meanwhile John Brown will put Taunton School in the historical context of the Victorian age.
We are very privileged that Freddie Knoller, an Austrian Jew who fought in the French resistance and subsequently survived Auschwitz and Belsen, has agreed to give the second of these lectures.
We are very grateful for the support we received last year, and stress that everybody is welcome.
