History Department
The History Department, led by Mark Chatterton, has become a bastion of academic
excellence over the last ten years. A level and GCSE grades have been at their
highest level ever, and the Department enjoys an enviable reputation.
The objectives of the Department are to inculcate an interest in all things historical,
and to emphasise the importance of the subject to citizens of the modern world.
The skills of analysis, decision-making and comprehension of different ideals are
taught by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic teachers.
Individual discussion and the importance of formulating personal historical viewpoints
is emphasised and History is promoted as a wonderful training for life.
Our philosophy is simple: Don't just learn it, live it
