6th Form at Taunton School
Careers Department- Guidance and Support

Pastoral care is central to our provision for pupils’ welfare
and was seen as a distinctive feature of the School by the last School Inspection Team and a recent parental questionnaire.

All Sixth Formers will be in a tutor group. Their House Tutor will be the first point of call for them and will be the main link between student and teaching staff. Academic progress is monitored through monthly assessments – the grades are sent home to parents who are invited to contact tutors. If the progress of a student is felt to be unsatisfactory, early warning calls are made and students are given help and advice as to how to make the best of their ability. The Head of Sixth Form and Housestaff are also part of the monitoring team and as a result of the hard work and dedication of all those involved, the quality of care is second to none.

Life After TS
Careers and Higher Education advice is central to the tutorial programme and the students are encouraged to make full use of the well-resourced Careers Department.

During the past 14 years, over 100 of our pupils
have been successful in gaining places at Oxford or Cambridge.

Approximately 96% of all Sixth Form leavers take up University or College places.

Work Experience
Work Experience is undertaken during the holidays of the Lower Sixth – students research and apply for their own placements with support from tutors and the Head of Careers. Students are encouraged to take part in Community Work and local support projects.
