| At Taunton School, we aim to create an atmosphere in which Sixth Form students can develop their own unique collection of talents. |

|
 We encourage all Sixth Formers to make the most of a wide range of opportunities that will allow them to move smoothly into the wider world – we hope that they will feel confident with their new found independence as they move towards higher education and the world of work.
There is a great deal of scope for breadth and, although emphasis is focused on academic study, we ensure that individuals do not lose sight of aesthetic, sporting and social interests.
The Sixth Form at Taunton School has a distinctive ethos. There is an atmosphere of constructive energy – senior students participate in many areas and, through their excellent example, they lead the rest of the school. It is a friendly environment and I am delighted to see new students settling in so well during the Autumn term of the Lower Sixth – we usually welcome about thirty entrants at the end of their GCSEs. Due to our policy of sitting AS modular exams at the end of the Lower Sixth, we feel that students are able to dedicate plenty of time to developing their interests both in and outside of the classroom – they are encouraged to learn how to learn, as opposed to merely pass examinations.
