Day Houses
- From Year 3, pupils will have been attached to one of the four Houses:
- Cooper
Dowell
Loveday
Roberts
All pupils have the opportunity to represent their Houses in a number of school events such as sporting and musical competitions. They will also attend occasional House meetings.
Year 7 & 8
- In Year 7, pupils move into the Houses where the Housemistress or Housemaster oversees all academic and pastoral matters for the next 2 years. Each Housemaster and Housemistress is supported by two House Tutors and it is intended that the House staff team will comprise at least one female and one male member of staff.
Whilst the Housemistress/master oversees all aspects of the House and has an overview of all of the pupils, each Tutor will have particular responsibility for a smaller group of between 9 and 12 pupils. Parents, or pupils, may approach either if there is a matter of concern.
Cooper: Housemaster Mr A Jolley
Dowell: Housemistress Miss B Descy
Loveday: Housemaster Mr A Manners
Roberts: Housemistress Miss C Richards
-
Although they will continue to be taught in forms, and to move around the school for lessons, the pupils no longer have a form room in Weirfield. Instead, all of their belongings are kept in the House and the house rooms become their base throughout the day. Each pupil is allocated a locker and a peg.
Good House Points
Good House Points are used to reward and recognise significant effort. These contribute towards an inter-house competition. Our discipline procedure is constantly under review and we are currently introducing a pupils’ behaviour and action file. This may run in conjunction with Bad House Points. The Headmaster may award a Roll of Honour for exceptional work.
Golden House Points
Golden House points are awarded for exemplary behaviour.
- They may relate to our School Golden Rules:
Be gentle
Be kind and helpful
Work hard
Look after property
Listen to people
Be honest
