Where Next?

Most pupils transfer to Taunton School at the end of Year 8.
During their time in Year 8, pupils are carefully prepared for the move into the Senior School.
They will already have been taught by some of the Senior School Staff and will have made use of some specialist facilities at Taunton School, including the Chapel and the Theatre.

During the Autumn Term,
Year 8 pupils have the opportunity to meet informally with the Headmaster. of the Senior School.  Later on, they have a tour of the Senior School classrooms to help them to get to know the layout of their new school.

In the Spring Term,
a succession of ‘taster sessions’ is organised when Taunton School Heads of Department talk to Year 8 about their subjects.  The pupils have an opportunity to ask questions and to discuss the implications of subject options leading to G.C.S.E.  In February, parents and Year 8 pupils are invited to a presentation evening at the Senior School where they can meet some of the staff and pupils and find out about life at Taunton School.

In the Summer Term,
the pupils have the chance to meet their Senior School House Staff and to look around their new Houses.

In this way, the transition to Taunton School, though exciting and challenging, is not a daunting process for Year 8 pupils.
