Assessment
Assessments are sent home at regular intervals.
These comprise attainment and effort grades for every subject. Pupils making significant effort are recognised in assembly. Parents are asked to sign and return assessments as an indication that they have been seen and pupils are encouraged to set targets for improvement. House staff will discuss pupils’ progress with them.
Grades for effort
are given on a scale of 1 to 5 excellent, good, adequate, unsatisfactory and most unsatisfactory. If a pupil receives a 4 or 5, it will be followed up by the Housemistress / Master or the Headmaster.
Grades for attainment
are given on a scale of A to E and are awarded against the ability of pupils across the full year group. Grades A to C indicate that a pupil is working at a level consistent with achieving a satisfactory standard at this stage. A grade ‘D’ indicates concern and E represents a very poor standard.
